2013 is now drawing to a close. From a result perspective, it has been a so so year, BUT that is due to the fact that we have been focusing on Rally Australia! The Evo 9 has been converted to Group N and we were eligible for Rally Australia in the WRC.!Jack has been my co driver since 2010, where he did just a couple of events to get the hang of things... During 2011 he completed his 'formal' Rookie Co driver year and rounded it out by taking the WA Rookie Co Driver of the year award! Great effort! A few rally driving trophies littering his bedroom now.
We have done the odd event here and there in 2012 and 2013, getting used to the car and preparing for our Trip to Coffs Harbour for Rally Oz. An outting at Lewana Rally, saw us finish in 8th. Have always preferred the dry and dusty events, rather than the wetter ones that have been a bit more of the norm this year!
With an epic adventure over East we competed and achieved our aim of finishing in the top 20, by coming in at 19th! Report here and final finish list here.
I have not had the opportunity to take part in Rally Australia since 2006, and the wait was worth it, we had an awesome time! Lots of photos on Facebook and a full report to come!
Even though I have decided to mainly focus on the gravel events, we still have some 17" tarmac wheels and tyres, so that we can get some crucial time in the driving seat. Either Rally Sprints or Off season Autokhanas.. Anything really!
Jack is a natural co driver and so hopefully we can add a few more bits of silver to the collection!
Telstra Rally Australia 2004 and 2006, were real high lights in my Rallying so far, a great event, what a great experience!! We've now added an even more awesome Rally Oz 2013, so well chuffed! I have detailed the whole 2004 event week in some detail, if you really want to know then click here and see all the details and photos.
